Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate insurance applications and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with underwriting guidelines.
  • Assess risks and determine appropriate insurance coverage for clients based on their needs and eligibility.
  • Perform thorough risk analysis by reviewing applicants medical history, financial stability, and other pertinent factors.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, agents, and other team members to gather necessary information and explain underwriting decisions.
  • Ensure all underwriting decisions are aligned with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in policy renewals, endorsements, and modifications as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of all underwriting activities and decisions.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior underwriters and team members when necessary.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to enhance underwriting processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Insurance, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Insurance Underwriter or in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and insurance policies.
  • Familiarity with various types of insurance products, including life, health, property, and casualty.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make sound decisions based on data and risk analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote environment.
  • Proficiency with underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.
  • Active licensing as an underwriter in the U.S. (where required) is a plus.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in the insurance underwriting field.
  • Experience in underwriting for multiple types of insurance (life, health, auto, etc.).
  • Proven track record of making accurate risk assessments and insurance decisions.
  • Experience working remotely and managing time effectively in a virtual environment.

Working Hours:

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Flexible working hours based on team needs, with occasional shifts required depending on the client.
