Job Summary

The Drilling Fluids Specialist plays a pivotal role in the efficient operation of oil platforms by managing and overseeing drilling fluids used in the drilling process. Key Responsibilities

• Manage Drilling Fluids: Oversee the selection, testing, and management of drilling fluids used in oil platform drilling operations.
• Monitoring and Adjustment: Continuously monitor the properties of drilling fluids and adjust compositions to ensure the stability and efficiency of the drilling process.
• Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, rig managers, and field operators to maintain optimal fluid performance and resolve any issues that arise during operations.
• Ensure Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety standards and environmental regulations related to drilling fluid operations.
• Troubleshooting: Identify issues with the drilling fluid and provide immediate solutions to maintain operational continuity.
• Training and Mentoring: Provide guidance and training to junior staff on the proper handling, testing, and application of drilling fluids.
• Reporting: Document fluid performance, daily operations, and report findings to senior management.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Educational Background: A degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field.
• Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of drilling fluids, their components, and how they interact with various geological formations.
• Problem-Solving Abilities: Skilled in identifying issues with drilling fluids and developing effective solutions under pressure.
• Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of safety protocols, regulations, and environmental concerns specific to oil rig operations.

Experience

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in drilling fluids management within the oil and gas industry, ideally on oil platforms or in similar challenging environments.
• Proven experience working on offshore oil rigs and knowledge of the complexities associated with deep-water drilling operations is highly preferred.
• Experience in managing a team and collaborating with cross-functional teams in high-pressure environments.

Working Hours

• This is a full-time role that requires flexibility to work in shifts, as the position is based on an oil platform.
• Standard working hours are typically 12-hour shifts, with a rotation schedule of 14 days on/14 days off or as per the specific operational requirements of the rig.
