Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct personal care to hospice patients in their homes or residential care settings

  • Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and feeding

  • Monitor and report changes in the patients condition to the hospice nurse or physician

  • Offer emotional and psychological support to patients and families

  • Maintain accurate patient records and follow individualized care plans

  • Support families through grief and bereavement periods under supervision

  • Work collaboratively with nurses, social workers, and spiritual advisors to ensure holistic care

  • Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory compliance standards


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others

  • Ability to handle emotional and sensitive situations with care and professionalism

  • Basic knowledge of hospice philosophy and end-of-life care


Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of caregiving or hospice care experience preferred

  • Experience with patients experiencing terminal illness, dementia, or chronic conditions is a plus

Working Hours

  • Full-time or part-time positions available

  • Flexible shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and overnight care

  • On-call or rotating schedules may be required

  • Ability to lift and assist immobile patients

  • Strong observation and reporting skills

  • Culturally sensitive with the ability to support diverse patient populations
