HR Service Jobs is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Freelance Web Accessibility Tester to evaluate websites and digital platforms for compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1, ADA, Section 508). As a Web Accessibility Tester, you will be responsible for conducting audits, identifying accessibility issues, and recommending solutions to improve the user experience for individuals with disabilities. Conduct comprehensive accessibility audits of websites, applications, and digital content.
Evaluate compliance with WCAG 2.1 (A, AA) and other relevant accessibility standards and regulations.
Use assistive technologies (such as screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, etc.) to test usability for people with disabilities.
Document findings clearly, with actionable recommendations for developers and designers.
Collaborate with development teams to verify fixes and provide feedback on implemented solutions.
Provide reports detailing accessibility issues, compliance levels, and user impact.
Stay current with industry trends, tools, and evolving accessibility laws and guidelines.
Strong understanding of accessibility principles, guidelines (WCAG, ADA, Section 508), and best practices.
Hands-on experience using screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, or TalkBack.
Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript to understand how accessibility is impacted in code.
Proficiency with accessibility evaluation tools like Axe, WAVE, Lighthouse, or manual testing techniques.
Ability to write clear, concise, and detailed reports outlining issues and solutions.
Strong communication skills to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
Minimum 1-2 years of professional experience in web accessibility testing or digital accessibility consulting.
Experience working in freelance, remote, or agency environments is a plus.
Certification in accessibility (e.g., CPACC, WAS, or DHS Trusted Tester) is preferred but not mandatory.
Flexible working hours; availability must align with project deadlines and client communication needs.
Expected workload: 10–25 hours per week depending on assignments.
Deep knowledge of inclusive design and accessibility strategies.
Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
