This is an exciting opportunity for someone eager to start their career in database management and administration. As a Junior Database Administrator, you will work alongside senior database administrators to maintain, support, and optimize our database systems. You will gain hands-on experience with database technologies while contributing to the efficiency and security of the company data infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of database systems.
- Monitor database performance and ensure that databases are running efficiently and securely.
- Assist with regular database backups and recovery processes to ensure data integrity.
- Implement and support database security measures, including user access management and encryption protocols.
- Perform troubleshooting and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
- Support the database team with data migrations, upgrades, and patches.
- Collaborate with developers and other team members to optimize database queries and processes.
- Maintain database documentation, including configuration changes, operational procedures, and troubleshooting logs.
- Learn and stay updated on new database technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
- Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server).
- Familiarity with database concepts, structures, and normalization.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to database management.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred:
- Experience with database management tools (e.g., MySQL Workbench, SQL Server Management Studio).
- Knowledge of cloud-based databases (e.g., Amazon RDS, Google Cloud SQL).
- Familiarity with database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
- Exposure to scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery strategies.
Salary and Benefits
