Job Summary:
The Elite Job is seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and maintain the organizations databases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling daily database operations, ensuring the efficient migration of data, and optimizing database performance. As a key player in our IT department, the DBA will ensure the integrity, security, and availability of data across various platforms, supporting the companys growth and technological advancement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain databases, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.
- Oversee daily operations such as backup and recovery, monitoring, and troubleshooting of databases.
- Lead and manage database migration projects, ensuring smooth transitions with minimal disruptions.
- Perform database tuning and optimization to ensure optimal performance and fast query execution.
- Implement and maintain database security policies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with development teams to assist with database-related tasks, such as query optimization, integration, and data management.
- Create and maintain documentation for database structures, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor database health and troubleshoot performance issues to proactively prevent problems.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure data migration projects align with business requirements and timelines.
- Regularly update and patch database systems to ensure security and functionality.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator (DBA), with a focus on daily duties and data migration.
- Strong knowledge of SQL databases (MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with database migration tools and techniques.
- Solid understanding of database architecture and the ability to optimize complex database structures.
- Proficient in database performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of cloud databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL) is an advantage.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Shell, Python, or PowerShell for database automation.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
Experience:
- At least 3 years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
- Proven experience in managing database migrations and working with large datasets.
- Experience in working with both relational and NoSQL databases.
- Hands-on experience with database management tools and software.
Working Hours:
- Full-time position with a standard workweek of 40 hours.
- Flexible work hours may be available based on project needs and collaboration with global teams.
- Occasional on-call support for critical database issues during off-hours.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong proficiency in SQL and query optimization.
- In-depth knowledge of database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues.
- Expertise in data migration strategies and tools.
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
