Job Summary:
The Elite Job is seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual for the position of Entry-Level Medical Billing and Coding Specialist. Key Responsibilities:
- Review patient medical records and coding documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to diagnoses, procedures, and treatments.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure all documentation is complete and accurate.
- Verify patient insurance information and process billing claims.
- Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to resolve any billing discrepancies.
- Ensure that claims are processed in a timely manner to facilitate quick reimbursement.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare laws, regulations, and coding guidelines.
- Work with electronic health record (EHR) systems to enter and update patient data.
- Assist in reviewing and ensuring that insurance claims meet payer guidelines and requirements.
- Provide support in administrative tasks related to medical billing and coding.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associates degree in Health Information Technology or related field preferred).
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and medical billing software.
Experience:
- No prior experience is required; however, any experience in a healthcare setting or related administrative roles will be a plus.
- Completion of a medical billing and coding certification course or equivalent coursework is preferred.
Working Hours:
- Full-time position, Monday through Friday.
- Standard working hours: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (flexible working hours may be available depending on the role and location).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of medical billing and coding procedures.
- Understanding of healthcare insurance processes and terminology.
- Familiarity with healthcare privacy laws, such as HIPAA.
- Ability to analyze patient data and create accurate reports.
- Strong problem-solving skills for resolving billing issues and discrepancies.
- Proficiency with billing software, coding tools, and electronic health records (EHR).
