Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable & General Ledger (GL) Accountant to join our finance team in Malaysia. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the companys financial integrity by managing accounts payable, processing vendor payments, and ensuring accurate and timely general ledger entries. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full cycle of accounts payable including invoice processing, vendor management, and payment processing.
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies between accounts payable and general ledger.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Ensure all financial records and transactions comply with accounting principles and internal policies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
- Assist with audit preparation and provide necessary documentation during audits.
- Perform intercompany reconciliations and assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements.
- Coordinate with other departments to resolve accounting-related queries.
- Provide support to senior accounting staff with other ad-hoc projects as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, accounts payable, and general ledger functions.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounts payable and general ledger accounting, preferably in a corporate or multinational environment.
- Previous experience in handling month-end close processes and financial reporting.
- Experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
Working Hours
- Standard working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
- Flexibility to work additional hours during month-end or year-end closing may be required.
