Job Summary

Cigna is seeking a dedicated and professional Pharmacy Technician to join our team in a fully remote capacity. As a Pharmacy Technician at Cigna, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our members receive high-quality, accurate, and timely pharmacy services. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about healthcare, have a keen eye for detail, and are skilled in pharmacy operations. You will be responsible for supporting the processing of prescriptions, providing customer service to members, and ensuring that medications are dispensed correctly and in a timely manner.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process and verify prescription orders and medication requests accurately, ensuring all information is correct and complete.
  • Provide customer service to members, addressing any inquiries related to medications, prescriptions, and health plans.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, healthcare providers, and members to resolve any medication-related issues.
  • Assist in managing inventory, including medication storage and tracking, ensuring proper labeling, and maintaining controlled substances.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations, as well as Cignas internal procedures and policies.
  • Accurately input patient information into the system, updating medical records as necessary.
  • Monitor and track prescription refills and medication orders.
  • Provide administrative support related to pharmaceutical operations and pharmacy benefit programs.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by a recognized certifying body such as the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with pharmacy management software and other digital tools used in the healthcare industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information in a clear and professional manner.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, drug interactions, and pharmacy-related processes.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a retail, mail-order, or clinical setting.
  • Experience with medication dispensing, pharmacy inventory management, and prescription processing.
  • Experience with customer service or call center support in a healthcare environment is a plus.

Working Hours

This is a full-time, remote position. Typical working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST, with occasional overtime required to meet business needs. Flexibility in scheduling may be available based on department needs.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including pharmacists, medical staff, and customer support.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, informed decisions.
  • A solid understanding of pharmacy laws, rules, and regulations related to the practice of pharmacy.
  • Knowledge of insurance billing, medication formulary management, and pharmacy benefit systems is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Comfortable using technology and virtual platforms to collaborate and manage pharmacy operations.
