As a Pharmacy Technician - Prior Authorization at Home Depot, you will play a critical role in supporting the pharmacy team with prior authorization processes for insurance claims. This position is fully remote, offering the flexibility of working from home while providing essential services in processing medication claims for customers. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of pharmacy operations, insurance procedures, and excellent communication skills. Key Responsibilities
- Prior Authorization Review: Accurately review medication requests and work with insurance companies to obtain prior authorizations for prescription medications.
- Insurance Communication: Interact with insurance providers, healthcare professionals, and patients to gather necessary information and resolve any issues preventing medication approval.
- Documentation: Maintain clear and detailed records of all interactions, approvals, and rejections to ensure accurate tracking and compliance with insurance policies.
- Pharmacy Support: Assist pharmacists in addressing authorization queries and ensuring prescriptions are processed in a timely manner.
- Compliance and Regulations: Ensure all activities comply with federal and state regulations, as well as internal Home Depot policies and procedures.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional support to patients, physicians, and pharmacy staff regarding the authorization process and medication availability.
- Problem-Solving: Actively resolve authorization rejections, and work on obtaining necessary approvals for patient medication needs.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or equivalent) required.
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college or formal pharmacy technician education preferred.
- Experience with Prior Authorization: Previous experience in prior authorization processes in a pharmacy or healthcare setting is strongly preferred.
- Insurance Knowledge: Understanding of insurance terminology, claim processes, and pharmacy benefit management (PBM) systems.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to meticulously manage and process medication requests with accuracy.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients.
- Problem-Solving Ability: Ability to handle complex authorization issues and find effective solutions.
- Technological Proficiency: Comfortable using pharmacy management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other digital tools to manage daily tasks.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in pharmacy operations, including prior authorization, claims processing, or insurance verification.
- Prior experience working remotely or in a virtual environment is a plus.
- Experience in dealing with pharmacy insurance claims, prior authorization processes, and coordinating with healthcare professionals.
Working Hours
- Full-time, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
- Flexible working hours are available with coverage during standard business hours.
