Key Responsibilities

  • Waste Handling and Disposal: Safely manage the collection, segregation, and disposal of hazardous chemical waste in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure all processes comply with environmental laws and regulations, conducting regular audits and inspections to maintain compliance.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of waste generation, disposal, and transport activities, preparing reports as needed for regulatory compliance.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to hazardous material spills or incidents, executing emergency procedures to mitigate risks and ensure safety.
  • Training and Education: Provide training and support to staff on best practices for hazardous waste management and safety protocols.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the proper maintenance of equipment used in the handling and disposal of chemical waste.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: Associates degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related field is preferred.
  • Certification: Relevant certifications in hazardous waste management, such as HAZWOPER, are highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in understanding chemical properties and safety data sheets (SDS).
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.

Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in hazardous waste management or a related field is required.
  • Experience working in a laboratory, manufacturing, or environmental services setting is a plus.

Working Hours

  • Full-time position with standard working hours from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday. Occasional overtime and weekend shifts may be required based on operational needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and safety standards related to hazardous waste.
  • Ability to operate and maintain specialized equipment used for waste handling and disposal.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
