Job Summary
Progressive Technology is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Medical Records Coder for our Inpatient Department. This role is crucial in ensuring the accurate coding of medical records, supporting the overall efficiency of patient care and billing processes. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise to facilitate seamless communication between clinical and administrative teams, contributing to high-quality healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately code inpatient medical records using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Review clinical documentation to ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses and treatment plans, ensuring proper documentation.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding procedures, healthcare regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Assist in audits and reviews of coding accuracy, identifying areas for improvement.
- Participate in continuing education to enhance coding knowledge and professional development.
- Generate reports on coding statistics and trends to support departmental goals.
- Address coding queries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Certification in medical coding (e.g., CCS, CPC, RHIT, or equivalent).
- Proficient knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with medical staff and other departments.
- Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical coding software.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in inpatient coding in a healthcare setting.
- Experience with coding audits and compliance reviews is preferred.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations and payer requirements.
Working Hours
- Full-time position; Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Flexibility may be required during peak periods.
