Progressive Technology is seeking a detail-oriented and certified Medical Coder (CPC) to join our dynamic team in a full-time remote position. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate coding and billing of medical services, which is essential for maintaining compliance and optimizing revenue cycle management. You will collaborate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and internal teams to ensure that all coding practices meet industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using the appropriate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes.
  • Review clinical documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness of coding.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to clarify diagnoses and procedures as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations and guidelines related to coding and billing.
  • Perform regular audits of coding practices and assist in implementing necessary improvements.
  • Stay current with coding updates and changes in medical billing practices.
  • Address coding discrepancies and resolve billing issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide training and support to other staff members on coding-related inquiries.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification from the AAPC or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Proficiency in coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding, preferably in an outpatient surgical center (ASC) environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of medical specialties.
  • Experience with billing and revenue cycle management is a plus.

Working Hours

  • Full-time position with flexible working hours.
  • Must be available for regular meetings and collaboration with team members across different time zones.
