Job Summary
American Airlines is seeking a highly skilled and motivated System Administrator / Senior System Administrator to join our IT team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the management, maintenance, and support of our companys IT infrastructure, ensuring the seamless operation of systems and services that are essential to our business operations. As a System Administrator / Senior System Administrator, you will play a key role in enhancing our technological capabilities and ensuring that our systems are secure, efficient, and aligned with industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- System Management: Oversee and manage the configuration, installation, and maintenance of servers, operating systems, and related hardware.
- Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and implement solutions to optimize performance and reliability.
- Security: Implement and maintain security measures to safeguard company data and systems from cyber threats, including regular updates and patches.
- Troubleshooting: Provide advanced technical support for complex issues, including diagnosing and resolving hardware and software problems.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure consistency and facilitate knowledge sharing.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other IT team members and departments to support various projects and initiatives, including system upgrades and new implementations.
- Compliance: Ensure systems and practices comply with relevant regulations and standards, including industry best practices and company policies.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux), server hardware, virtualization technologies, and networking principles.
- Security Proficiency: Experience with security protocols, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and objectives are achieved.
Experience
- System Administration Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in system administration or a related IT role.
- Senior-Level Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a senior or lead role, demonstrating leadership and advanced technical skills.
- Industry Experience: Experience in a large, dynamic organization is preferred, with exposure to mission-critical systems and high-availability environments.
Working Hours
- Full-time position, Monday to Friday, with occasional on-call support required for emergencies or system outages. Flexibility in working hours may be needed to accommodate project schedules and system maintenance windows.

- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of system architecture, storage solutions, and backup/recovery processes.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues and provide effective solutions.
