Job Summary:The City of Austin Police Department is actively seeking qualified, dedicated individuals to join our team as Police Officers. Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (some college education preferred).
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status.
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass background checks, including criminal history, credit, and drug testing.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to meet department-specific fitness standards.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in stressful situations and make critical decisions under pressure.
  • A commitment to maintaining high ethical standards and integrity.

Experience:

  • Previous law enforcement experience is preferred, but not required.

Working Hours:

  • This position requires flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Officers will be assigned to shifts based on the departments operational needs.
  • Overtime may be required as needed.
