Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and monitor drilling fluid programs for various well conditions.
  • Analyze drilling fluid properties and ensure they meet operational requirements.
  • Perform regular quality checks and tests to maintain optimal drilling fluid performance.
  • Collaborate with drilling supervisors and rig personnel to address fluid-related challenges.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues such as lost circulation, borehole instability, and contamination.
  • Maintain accurate records of fluid performance and provide detailed reports.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations regarding drilling fluid handling and disposal.
  • Assist in the preparation of well-specific mud programs and cost estimates.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemistry, Geology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in managing drilling fluids on oil rigs, preferably as a Mud Engineer.
  • Strong understanding of drilling fluid systems, including water-based, oil-based, and synthetic fluids.
  • Proficiency in laboratory testing and fluid property analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including API and OSHA guidelines.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in drilling fluids management, with hands-on exposure to various well conditions.
  • Experience in offshore or onshore drilling operations is a plus.

Working Hours

  • Rotational schedule: 14 days on, 14 days off, or as required by the project.
  • Flexibility to work in remote and challenging environments.

  • In-depth knowledge of drilling fluid chemistry and properties.
  • Ability to adapt to varying operational conditions and requirements.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
