Job Summary

Oil Rig Jobs is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Offshore Crane Operator to join our team for heavy lifting operations on oil rigs. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the safe and efficient handling of equipment and materials to support oil rig operations. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to safety protocols, and the ability to work in challenging offshore environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Operate offshore cranes for lifting and moving heavy materials, machinery, and equipment.
  • Conduct pre-operation and post-operation inspections of cranes to ensure functionality and safety.
  • Coordinate with rig personnel to plan lifting operations and ensure clear communication during execution.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and industry regulations for crane operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor crane malfunctions, reporting major issues to the maintenance team.
  • Maintain detailed logs of crane operations and inspections.
  • Assist in routine maintenance and ensure cranes are kept in optimal condition.
  • Participate in emergency response drills and assist in emergency operations as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Certification in offshore crane operations (e.g., API RP 2D, Stage 3).
  • Strong knowledge of lifting equipment, rigging procedures, and safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret load charts, rigging diagrams, and operational manuals.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and situational awareness.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced offshore environments.
  • Knowledge of applicable health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Crane Operator, preferably in offshore or oil and gas sectors.
  • Proven track record of safely handling heavy lifting operations in challenging conditions.

Working Hours

  • Typical schedule includes 12-hour shifts with rotational schedules (e.g., 28 days on, 28 days off).
  • Flexibility to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Thorough understanding of offshore rig operations and logistics.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic and mechanical crane systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and basic crane maintenance.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of professionals.
