Key Responsibilities

• Operate various types of motor vehicles, including buses, trucks, and other city-owned vehicles, to ensure timely and safe transportation of passengers and goods.
• Perform routine checks on vehicles, ensuring they are in good working condition before and after each trip.
• Adhere to all traffic laws, city regulations, and safety standards while operating vehicles.
• Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance schedules.
• Provide excellent customer service by assisting passengers and handling inquiries professionally and courteously.
• Report any vehicle malfunctions, accidents, or safety hazards to the appropriate authorities.
• Assist with the loading and unloading of goods when necessary.
• Collaborate with team members and management to ensure the smooth operation of transportation services.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Valid commercial drivers license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
• Excellent knowledge of New York City streets, traffic patterns, and safety regulations.
• Ability to operate a variety of vehicles, including buses and trucks, efficiently and safely.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with passengers and team members.
• Attention to detail with the ability to manage schedules, perform inspections, and report on vehicle conditions.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical ability to assist with loading/unloading and the capability to manage long hours of driving.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating motor vehicles, particularly in a public or commercial transportation environment.
• Experience with vehicle inspections and basic maintenance is highly preferred.
• Previous customer service experience is an advantage.

Working Hours

• Full-time position with a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Shifts are subject to operational needs, with possible overtime during peak times.
