Job Summary

Home Depot is seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our Prior Authorization team. This remote position will be responsible for assisting with the medication authorization process, ensuring all prescriptions meet necessary criteria, and supporting our healthcare team in providing excellent patient care. As a Pharmacy Technician in Prior Authorization, you will play a key role in improving patient outcomes by facilitating efficient medication access and ensuring compliance with health insurance standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review medication requests for authorization and ensure that all required documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve prior authorization issues.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of medication authorizations and patient interactions.
  • Ensure timely processing of prior authorization requests in compliance with healthcare regulations and company policies.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving problems related to prescription approval or insurance coverage.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best care options for patients.
  • Follow up with patients to ensure they understand their prescription coverage and approval status.
  • Stay informed of the latest healthcare regulations, insurance policies, and drug formularies.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring a positive experience for patients.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Pharmacy Technician certification preferred).
  • Prior experience as a Pharmacy Technician, with a focus on prior authorizations, is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare insurance policies and pharmacy benefits management.
  • Proficiency with pharmacy software systems, databases, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently in a remote environment.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably with a focus on prior authorization or pharmacy benefits management.
  • Experience in a remote work environment is a plus.

Working Hours

  • Full-time, remote position.
  • Flexible working hours with occasional evening or weekend shifts based on business needs.
  • This is a home-based role with the requirement to maintain a suitable workspace and internet connection.
