Job Summary

American Airlines is seeking a talented and motivated Data Engineer to join our IT Analytics team. Key Responsibilities

• Data Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines to collect, process, and store large volumes of data.
• Data Integration: Work with cross-functional teams to integrate data from various sources into the data warehouse or cloud platform.
• Data Quality Assurance: Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency by implementing data validation checks and monitoring systems.
• Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business teams to understand data needs and provide insights that drive decision-making.
• Performance Optimization: Optimize data systems and queries for performance and scalability.
• Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain detailed documentation for data pipelines and workflows. Prepare reports and dashboards as required.
• Technology Leadership: Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and apply them to improve processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, Python, Java, or similar programming languages. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
• Data Warehousing: Strong experience with data warehouse architecture, ETL processes, and tools like Redshift, Snowflake, or BigQuery.
• Data Modeling: Experience in creating efficient data models and schemas to support business intelligence tools.
• Version Control: Familiarity with version control tools like Git.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve complex technical challenges.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with teams across departments.

Experience

• Professional Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or a related field.
• Industry Experience: Prior experience in the airline, travel, or hospitality industry is a plus.
• Project Management: Experience managing or contributing to large-scale data-related projects.

Working Hours

• Full-time position with flexible working hours.
• Occasional travel may be required for team collaboration or project implementation.
• Option for remote work or hybrid work environment, with occasional in-office presence depending on team needs.
