Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and skin punctures accurately and efficiently to collect blood samples from patients.
- Label and organize samples according to laboratory protocols to maintain sample integrity.
- Prepare blood collection equipment, ensuring all tools and materials are sanitized and ready for use.
- Maintain accurate patient records, documenting procedures and sample collections.
- Provide clear instructions and reassurance to patients to ensure comfort and compliance during blood draws.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to support patient care and laboratory operations.
- Adhere to safety and infection control protocols at all times.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent.
- Excellent knowledge of blood collection techniques and laboratory protocols.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact professionally with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with medical equipment and software used in phlebotomy procedures.
Experience
- A minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience in a phlebotomy or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Experience in handling diverse patient populations, including pediatric and elderly patients, is a plus.
Working Hours
- Flexible scheduling with part-time and full-time opportunities.
- Shifts may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to phlebotomy.
- Exceptional hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
