Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Secondary School Teaching Assistant to join our team in Singapore. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside educators to support classroom management, assist in lesson delivery, and ensure a positive learning environment for students. Key Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in preparing and delivering lessons, activities, and classroom materials.
- Support students in understanding and completing tasks, providing one-on-one and small group instruction when needed.
- Manage classroom behavior and ensure a conducive learning environment.
- Supervise students during class activities, breaks, and extracurricular events.
- Help with grading and record-keeping of student progress.
- Provide administrative support to the teacher, including preparing teaching materials and setting up classroom resources.
- Monitor student attendance and participation, providing feedback to the teacher.
- Encourage students social and emotional development, fostering a positive school culture.
- Assist in preparing and setting up classrooms before lessons and cleaning up afterward.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum GCE O Level or equivalent; a Diploma in Education or related field is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with young people.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using basic computer programs such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced educational environment.
Experience
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is an advantage but not required.
- Experience in tutoring or volunteering in schools will be considered a plus.
- A genuine interest in pursuing a career in education is highly encouraged.
Working Hours
- Full-time position with working hours from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Occasional after-school or weekend work may be required for extracurricular activities or special events.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work with diverse groups of students and adapt to different learning styles.
- Knowledge of classroom management techniques.
- Strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
- Basic understanding of the Singapore curriculum and secondary school education is an advantage.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and handle various classroom situations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.
