Job Summary:Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking an experienced and dynamic General Engineering Superintendent (GES) to oversee and enhance engineering operations within the mining sector. The GES will play a critical role in managing engineering teams, ensuring the effective implementation of engineering practices, and optimizing mining operations. This position demands a strategic thinker with a solid engineering background, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep understanding of mining operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of engineers and technical personnel, providing guidance and support to ensure effective performance and professional development.
- Develop and implement engineering strategies, policies, and procedures to improve operational efficiency and safety standards.
- Oversee the design, planning, and execution of mining projects, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and quality standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of mining operations to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including geology, operations, and safety departments, to ensure cohesive project execution and problem resolution.
- Manage the procurement of engineering equipment and materials, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare and present technical reports, project updates, and performance metrics to senior management and stakeholders.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation and maintain competitive advantage.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Masters degree or professional certification (e.g., Chartered Engineer) is a plus.
- Proven experience in a senior engineering role within the mining industry, with a strong track record of managing complex projects and leading engineering teams.
- In-depth knowledge of mining processes, equipment, and safety regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions and address engineering challenges effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in engineering software and tools relevant to mining operations.
Experience:
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in engineering roles within the mining sector, including at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or managerial position.
- Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale mining projects and teams, with a successful track record of meeting project goals and deadlines.
Working Hours:
- Full-time position with standard working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Flexibility to accommodate project demands and occasional travel may be required.
