Progressive Technology is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Entry-Level Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our team. This role is perfect for individuals starting their career in the healthcare administration field. The ideal candidate will possess a fundamental understanding of medical terminology, billing processes, and coding systems, and will demonstrate a strong commitment to accuracy and efficiency in handling patient records and insurance claims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Billing and Coding: Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses using the ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems. Ensure correct billing for services rendered and submit claims to insurance companies.
- Claims Management: Review and process insurance claims, resolve discrepancies, and follow up on denied or unpaid claims to secure reimbursement.
- Data Entry: Maintain and update patient records, ensuring all information is complete, accurate, and compliant with healthcare regulations.
- Compliance: Adhere to healthcare regulations and policies, including HIPAA guidelines, to maintain patient confidentiality and data security.
- Communication: Collaborate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to address billing inquiries and resolve issues.
- Documentation: Prepare and manage detailed billing reports and documentation for internal and external audits.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in medical billing and coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in medical coding software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Knowledge: Basic understanding of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10, CPT), and insurance billing processes.
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to analyze and review detailed information to ensure accuracy.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with healthcare professionals and insurance representatives.
- Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot billing issues and resolve discrepancies.
Experience:
- No prior experience required; however, previous experience in a medical office or billing environment is beneficial.
- On-the-job training will be provided to ensure proficiency in our specific billing and coding processes.
Working Hours:
- Full-time position with a standard 40-hour workweek.
- Regular office hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional overtime as needed.
