Key Responsibilities:

• Perform precise medical coding for optometry-related procedures and diagnoses, utilizing ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Review and analyze clinical documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness of coding and billing information.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify and validate documentation, ensuring alignment with coding standards and payer requirements.
• Conduct regular audits of coding practices to identify and address discrepancies, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Stay updated with changes in coding regulations and guidelines, implementing necessary updates to maintain compliance.
• Provide coding expertise and support to the billing department, assisting in the resolution of claim denials and rejections.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance coding skills and knowledge.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree or equivalent clinical qualification.
• Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, or equivalent) is required.
• Strong knowledge of optometry-related medical terminology, procedures, and diagnoses.
• Proficiency in medical coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding and documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative staff.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an optometrist with a focus on medical coding.
• Demonstrated experience with coding optometry procedures and diagnoses in a clinical or healthcare setting.
• Previous experience with coding audits and compliance reviews is preferred.

Working Hours:

• Full-time position, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Flexibility in working hours may be required based on departmental needs.
