Job Summary
GradeBuzz is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Web Performance Engineer to optimize our digital learning platform for speed, scalability, and seamless user experience—especially in low-bandwidth environments. This role focuses on improving Core Web Vitals, enhancing front-end performance, and delivering efficient video streaming solutions tailored for diverse network conditions. You will play a critical role in ensuring that learners across geographies experience fast, reliable, and engaging content delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Optimize website performance to achieve excellent Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP).
Design and implement performance strategies for low-bandwidth and high-latency environments.
Develop adaptive video streaming solutions (HLS/DASH) for smooth playback across devices.
Analyze performance metrics using tools such as Lighthouse, WebPageTest, and Chrome DevTools.
Collaborate with frontend and backend teams to reduce load times and improve rendering efficiency.
Implement lazy loading, code splitting, caching, and CDN strategies.
Monitor real-user metrics (RUM) and synthetic performance testing.
Troubleshoot bottlenecks in network, rendering, and JavaScript execution.
Ensure mobile-first optimization across all devices and screen sizes.
Continuously benchmark and improve platform performance against industry standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
Hands-on experience with performance optimization techniques and tools.
Knowledge of Core Web Vitals and modern browser rendering pipelines.
Experience with video streaming technologies (HLS, MPEG-DASH).
Familiarity with frameworks like React, Next.js, or similar.
Understanding of CDN, caching mechanisms, and HTTP protocols.
Experience with bundlers such as Webpack, Vite, or Rollup.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Experience
3–6 years of experience in web performance engineering or frontend optimization.
Proven track record of improving website speed and user experience metrics.
Experience working on high-traffic platforms or EdTech products is a plus.
Prior experience optimizing applications for emerging markets or low-bandwidth users is highly desirable.
