Job Summary
Progressive Technology is seeking a passionate and experienced Online English Tutor specializing in IELTS and TOEFL exam preparation to support students during weekend sessions. This fully remote position is ideal for educators who enjoy helping learners achieve their international education and immigration goals.
The tutor will conduct engaging virtual lessons, guide students through exam strategies, evaluate language proficiency, and provide structured feedback to improve speaking, writing, reading, and listening skills. The role requires strong communication abilities, familiarity with standardized English tests, and the ability to motivate students in an online learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct live online tutoring sessions focused on IELTS and TOEFL preparation.
Teach core language skills including reading comprehension, listening strategies, speaking fluency, and academic writing.
Provide targeted coaching on exam formats, scoring criteria, and test-taking strategies.
Evaluate student assignments, essays, and speaking exercises with constructive feedback.
Develop lesson plans and learning materials tailored to individual student goals.
Track student progress and maintain records of performance and improvement.
Conduct mock exams and practice tests to prepare students for real test conditions.
Encourage active participation and create an engaging virtual learning environment.
Stay updated with changes in IELTS and TOEFL examination patterns.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelors degree in English, Linguistics, Education, TESOL, or a related field.
Strong command of spoken and written English.
Familiarity with IELTS and/or TOEFL exam structures and scoring systems.
Experience delivering lessons through online platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, or similar tools.
Ability to simplify complex grammar and writing concepts for learners.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Experience
Minimum 1–3 years of teaching or tutoring experience in English language training.
Prior experience coaching students for IELTS or TOEFL exams is highly preferred.
Experience in online tutoring or virtual classroom management is an advantage.
Working Hours
Part-time weekend role
Saturday and Sunday
Flexible scheduling within the following windows:
Morning: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Afternoon: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Evening: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Tutors typically conduct 4–8 hours of sessions per weekend depending on student demand.
