Job Summary

The Elite Job is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Remote Financial Controller – Environmental NGO to oversee and strengthen the financial operations of a growing environmental organization. This role is responsible for managing financial planning, reporting, compliance, and internal controls while supporting the organizations sustainability initiatives and donor-funded projects.

The ideal candidate will combine strong financial expertise with a passion for environmental impact. As Financial Controller, you will collaborate with leadership, program managers, and external partners to ensure transparency, accountability, and efficient use of funds that support global environmental conservation efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee all financial management activities including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, grant regulations, and donor reporting requirements.

Develop and maintain strong internal financial controls and risk management processes.

Monitor project budgets and ensure accurate allocation of funds across environmental programs.

Lead the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies.

Provide strategic financial guidance to executive leadership and program teams.

Manage cash flow, investment activities, and financial sustainability planning.

Implement financial systems and tools to improve efficiency in remote financial operations.

Supervise and mentor finance staff or remote accounting teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).

Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent is highly desirable.

Strong knowledge of nonprofit financial management and grant accounting.

Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar systems.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and financial planning skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Ability to work effectively with remote teams across different regions.

Experience

Minimum 7–10 years of experience in accounting or financial management.

At least 3–5 years in a leadership or controller role.

Experience working with nonprofit organizations, NGOs, or donor-funded projects is highly preferred.

Demonstrated experience managing audits, budgets, and compliance reporting.

Experience in remote or distributed work environments is an advantage.

Working Hours

Full-time remote position.

Standard 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
