Job Summary

The Elite Job is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Remote Senior Auditor – State & Local Government to join our dynamic and growing team. Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage audit engagements for state and local government clients from planning through completion.

Conduct financial, compliance, and operational audits in accordance with government auditing standards.

Review financial statements, accounting systems, and internal control procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Identify risks, inefficiencies, and control weaknesses, and recommend effective corrective actions.

Prepare comprehensive audit reports, documentation, and findings for management and stakeholders.

Provide guidance and mentorship to junior auditors and audit staff.

Maintain strong client relationships through professional communication and reliable service delivery.

Stay updated with changes in government regulations, accounting standards, and auditing practices.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve audit methodologies and processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional certification preferred.

Strong understanding of governmental accounting standards and auditing frameworks.

Proficiency in accounting and auditing software as well as Microsoft Office tools.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a remote work environment.

Experience

Minimum of 5–7 years of auditing experience, preferably in state or local government audits.

Proven experience leading audit engagements and managing client relationships.

Experience working with governmental financial statements, compliance audits, and internal control reviews.

Working Hours

Full-time remote position.

Flexible work schedule with standard 40-hour workweek.

Occasional extended hours may be required during audit peak periods.
