Job Summary

The Elite Job is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Virtual Bookkeeper – Retail & POS System Expert to support our growing portfolio of retail clients. This remote role is ideal for a finance professional who has strong bookkeeping expertise and hands-on experience with retail accounting and Point-of-Sale (POS) systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling sales data from POS systems, managing daily bookkeeping activities, and ensuring financial compliance. This position plays a critical role in helping retail businesses maintain financial clarity and make informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate bookkeeping records including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.

Reconcile daily retail sales from POS systems with bank and payment processor transactions.

Manage and record inventory-related financial transactions and cost tracking.

Prepare monthly financial statements, profit and loss reports, and balance sheets.

Process vendor invoices, payments, and expense tracking.

Monitor cash flow and provide regular financial updates to management.

Ensure accurate tax documentation and assist with tax preparation.

Identify discrepancies in financial data and resolve issues promptly.

Maintain digital financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards.

Collaborate with management and external accountants to support financial planning.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).

Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and retail accounting processes.

Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms.

Experience working with POS systems commonly used in retail environments.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience

Minimum 3–5 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably within the retail industry.

Proven experience handling POS system integrations and sales reconciliation.

Experience working remotely or managing virtual bookkeeping services is an advantage.

Prior experience managing multiple client accounts or business units is preferred.

Working Hours

Flexible remote work schedule.

Standard working hours are Monday to Friday (8 hours per day).

Occasional flexibility may be required during month-end or financial closing periods.
