Job Summary
The Elite Job is seeking a highly skilled Remote Senior Staff Accountant to join our fast-growing Remote-First EdTech division. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a technology-driven, fully remote work environment. The Senior Staff Accountant will play a critical role in managing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, supporting month-end close processes, and providing financial insights to support strategic decisions.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in general ledger accounting, financial analysis, and working with cloud-based accounting platforms. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial integrity of a dynamic education technology organization while collaborating with cross-functional remote teams.
Key Responsibilities
Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Lead and support month-end and year-end close processes ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP or applicable accounting standards.
Reconcile complex accounts including revenue, prepaid expenses, accruals, and fixed assets.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities for various departments.
Collaborate with finance leadership to improve financial controls and accounting procedures.
Support internal and external audit processes by preparing required documentation and schedules.
Analyze financial data and provide actionable insights to support business decisions.
Maintain accurate records within cloud-based accounting systems and ERP platforms.
Partner with cross-functional teams including operations, product, and HR to ensure financial alignment.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced remote environment.
Experience
Minimum 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience.
Prior experience in EdTech, SaaS, or technology-driven companies is highly preferred.
Experience managing full-cycle accounting and financial close processes.
Previous exposure to remote or distributed teams is a plus.
CPA or equivalent professional certification is considered an advantage.
Working Hours
Full-time remote position.
