Job Summary

The Elite Job is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tax Senior – State & Local Tax (SALT) to join our dynamic remote team. Key Responsibilities

Prepare and review state and local tax returns, including income, franchise, sales and use, and other indirect taxes.

Conduct detailed tax research on state and local tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.

Assist clients with tax planning strategies to minimize state and local tax liabilities.

Analyze multi-state operations to determine nexus, apportionment, and tax exposure.

Support state tax audits, notices, and inquiries by preparing documentation and responding to authorities.

Collaborate with internal accounting and tax teams to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.

Monitor and interpret changes in state and local tax legislation and communicate potential impacts to clients.

Prepare reports, schedules, and documentation supporting tax filings and client deliverables.

Provide guidance and mentorship to junior tax professionals when necessary.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.

Strong understanding of State and Local Tax (SALT) regulations and compliance requirements.

Proficiency in tax software and accounting systems.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial data analysis.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.

Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a remote work environment.

Professional certification such as CPA or progress toward CPA is highly preferred.

Experience

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in state and local tax compliance or consulting.

Experience working with multi-state corporate tax filings.

Previous experience in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department is highly desirable.

Proven track record of handling complex SALT issues and tax research.

Working Hours

Full-time remote position.

Standard working schedule: Monday to Friday.

Flexibility to accommodate different client time zones when required.
