Job Summary

The Elite Job is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Remote Senior Auditor – ERISA and 401k Plans to join our growing professional services team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and executing audits of employee benefit plans, particularly ERISA-regulated retirement plans including 401(k), profit-sharing, and defined contribution plans.

As a Senior Auditor, you will work closely with clients, internal teams, and regulatory frameworks to ensure compliance with ERISA requirements, Department of Labor (DOL) regulations, and applicable auditing standards. Key Responsibilities

Lead and perform audits of employee benefit plans including 401(k), 403(b), and other ERISA-governed retirement plans.

Ensure compliance with ERISA regulations, Department of Labor (DOL) requirements, and applicable auditing standards.

Review plan financial statements and disclosures to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Coordinate audit engagements, including planning, fieldwork, and final reporting.

Supervise and mentor junior audit staff, reviewing work papers and providing guidance.

Communicate audit findings, recommendations, and compliance issues clearly to clients and internal leadership.

Identify internal control weaknesses and provide strategic recommendations for improvement.

Maintain strong client relationships while delivering high-quality and timely audit services.

Stay updated on industry regulations, ERISA updates, and employee benefit plan audit standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification preferred or in progress.

Strong knowledge of ERISA regulations, employee benefit plan audits, and 401(k) plan compliance.

Proficiency in accounting and auditing standards such as GAAP and GAAS.

Experience using audit software and financial reporting tools.

Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing multiple client engagements.

Experience

Minimum 4–7 years of public accounting or audit experience.

At least 2–3 years of specialized experience auditing employee benefit plans including ERISA and 401(k) plans.

Experience working with mid-sized to large organizations and complex retirement plan structures is highly preferred.

Working Hours

Full-time remote position.

Standard work schedule: Monday to Friday.

Flexible hours may be available depending on client engagement requirements.

Occasional extended hours during peak audit seasons.
