The Elite Job is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Remote Payroll Tax Specialist – Local Tax Compliance to join our growing finance and payroll team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and ensuring compliance with local payroll tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical abilities, a deep understanding of payroll tax laws, and experience working with payroll systems in a remote environment.

As a Payroll Tax Specialist, you will collaborate with payroll, accounting, and HR teams to ensure accurate tax reporting, timely filings, and compliance with all local regulatory requirements. This role plays a critical part in maintaining organizational compliance and supporting employees through accurate payroll operations.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure accurate calculation, reporting, and remittance of local payroll taxes in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Monitor changes in payroll tax legislation and update internal processes accordingly.

Prepare and file payroll tax returns, including quarterly and annual filings.

Reconcile payroll tax accounts and resolve discrepancies in payroll tax records.

Collaborate with payroll and finance teams to ensure payroll systems reflect correct tax configurations.

Manage tax notices and respond to inquiries from local tax authorities.

Assist with internal and external payroll audits by preparing documentation and supporting reports.

Maintain accurate records of payroll tax filings, payments, and compliance documentation.

Provide guidance and support to HR and payroll teams on tax-related matters.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Strong knowledge of local payroll tax laws and compliance requirements.

Proficiency in payroll software and accounting systems.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial data analysis.

Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.

Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced remote environment.

Experience

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in payroll tax, payroll processing, or tax compliance roles.

Working Hours

Full-time remote position.
