Job Summary

The Elite Job is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Remote Accounts Payable Lead – Construction Liens Focus to oversee and manage the accounts payable operations related to construction projects and lien management. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate processing of invoices, monitoring lien waivers, maintaining compliance with construction payment regulations, and leading a team of accounts payable professionals.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in construction accounting, lien compliance, vendor payments, and financial reporting, along with the leadership skills required to guide a remote team in a fast-paced environment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining vendor relationships, protecting the organization from financial risk, and ensuring timely payments across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and supervise the Accounts Payable team, ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and payments.

Manage construction lien waivers, releases, and documentation to ensure compliance with legal and contractual requirements.

Review and approve invoices, ensuring proper coding, documentation, and authorization before payment.

Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and vendors to resolve discrepancies related to invoices and lien documentation.

Maintain accurate records of vendor accounts and payment schedules.

Ensure compliance with company policies, financial controls, and construction payment regulations.

Monitor accounts payable aging reports and manage payment priorities.

Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy within the accounts payable workflow.

Assist with month-end and year-end financial closing activities related to accounts payable.

Prepare reports and provide insights to management regarding payment trends and financial obligations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Strong understanding of construction accounting practices and lien waiver processes.

Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a remote work environment.

Leadership experience with the ability to mentor and guide team members.

Experience

Minimum 5–7 years of experience in Accounts Payable, preferably within the construction or real estate industry.

At least 2–3 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role.

Proven experience managing construction lien waivers and vendor payment compliance.

Experience working with remote teams and digital accounting systems is highly preferred.

Working Hours

Full-time remote position.

Standard working hours: Monday to Friday, with flexibility depending on project deadlines and financial closing cycles.

Occasional extended hours may be required during month-end or year-end closing periods.
