This role focuses on identifying, calculating, and documenting Research & Development (R&D) tax credits for clients across multiple industries including technology, manufacturing, healthcare, and engineering.

As a Tax Senior, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, analyze technical activities that qualify for R&D incentives, and prepare comprehensive documentation that supports federal and state tax credit claims. The ideal candidate will combine strong tax technical knowledge with excellent analytical skills and the ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and evaluate eligible Research & Development (R&D) tax credit opportunities for clients across diverse industries.

Conduct technical interviews with client engineering, product, and financial teams to understand development activities.

Analyze qualified research expenses (QREs) including wages, supplies, and contract research costs.

Prepare detailed R&D credit calculations in compliance with federal and state tax regulations.

Develop comprehensive documentation and reports to support R&D credit claims during potential IRS reviews or audits.

Collaborate with internal tax professionals, consultants, and client stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely project delivery.

Stay updated with evolving R&D tax credit laws, regulatory guidance, and industry best practices.

Assist in preparing tax returns, tax provisions, and supporting schedules related to R&D credits.

Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards.

Support junior tax analysts by reviewing work and providing technical guidance.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Economics, or a related field.

Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state R&D tax credit regulations.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and tax research tools.

Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interviewing skills to gather technical project details from clients.

Ability to manage multiple deadlines and client engagements in a remote work environment.

High level of attention to detail and strong documentation capabilities.

Professional certifications such as CPA, EA, or MST are highly preferred.

Experience

Minimum 3–6 years of experience in tax consulting, public accounting, or R&D tax credit analysis.

Prior experience preparing R&D tax credit studies or working with innovation incentive programs.

Experience working with technology, manufacturing, or life sciences companies is highly desirable.

Experience in a remote or distributed team environment is an advantage.

Working Hours
