Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional for the role of Data Analytics, Data Governance and Risk to support our growing portfolio of data-driven advisory and consulting services. This role plays a critical part in ensuring data quality, regulatory compliance, risk management, and actionable insights across client engagements. The successful candidate will work remotely from Canada and collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, govern, analyze, and safeguard enterprise data assets while enabling informed business decision-making.
Design, develop, and maintain data analytics solutions, dashboards, and reports to support strategic and operational decision-making.
Establish and enforce data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures across client and internal environments.
Monitor data quality, lineage, metadata, and master data management practices to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Identify, assess, and manage data-related risks, including regulatory, operational, and security risks.
Support compliance with data protection and privacy regulations (e.g., PIPEDA, GDPR where applicable).
Collaborate with stakeholders to define data requirements and translate business needs into analytical solutions.
Conduct risk assessments, controls testing, and data audits to identify gaps and recommend improvements.
Support incident management and remediation activities related to data quality or governance issues.
Prepare documentation, governance reports, and executive-level insights for clients and leadership.
Strong proficiency in data analytics tools and technologies (SQL, Python, R, Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
Solid understanding of data governance principles, data management frameworks, and best practices.
Knowledge of risk management, internal controls, and compliance frameworks.
Experience working with large, complex datasets and enterprise data environments.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced consulting environment.
Bachelors degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
3–6 years of relevant experience in data analytics, data governance, risk, audit, or compliance roles.
Prior experience in consulting, financial services, healthcare, energy, or technology sectors is an advantage.
Experience working with Canadian data regulations and governance standards is highly desirable.
Full-time, remote position based in Canada.
Standard business hours aligned with Canadian time zones, with flexibility to support client needs when required.
In-depth understanding of data lifecycle management and data quality methodologies.
Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical governance controls.
