Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Freelance Garment Specification Developer to support our overseas production operations. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and comprehensive garment specifications, tech packs, and production documentation for international manufacturing partners. This is a remote, freelance position that requires precision, technical expertise, and excellent communication with cross-functional teams.

The successful candidate will act as a bridge between design, production, and quality control, translating creative concepts into precise specifications that facilitate efficient manufacturing and ensure the highest product quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed garment specifications, tech packs, and measurement charts for overseas production.

• Ensure all product documentation adheres to brand standards, production requirements, and international manufacturing guidelines.

• Collaborate with designers, pattern makers, and product development teams to accurately capture design intent.

• Conduct fabric, trim, and accessory research to support production requirements.

• Review samples and production garments, providing feedback to factories to minimize errors.

• Coordinate with overseas manufacturers to resolve specification-related queries and discrepancies.

• Maintain organized records of all specifications, revisions, and technical documentation.

• Provide insights on cost, feasibility, and production efficiency where relevant.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, and textile properties.

• Proficiency in garment specification software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to create precise, error-free tech packs.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with overseas vendors.

• Ability to interpret design sketches and translate them into detailed specifications.

• Familiarity with international sizing standards and grading rules.

Experience

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in garment specification, tech pack development, or production documentation.

• Previous experience working with overseas manufacturers is highly desirable.

• Experience in both apparel development and quality assurance will be an advantage.

Working Hours

• Flexible working hours, fully remote.

• Availability for occasional meetings with international teams across different time zones.
