Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking physically fit and reliable Baggage Handlers to join leading cruise lines for the smooth operation of luggage logistics aboard passenger ships. As a Baggage Handler, you will be responsible for the safe handling, loading, unloading, and distribution of passengers luggage, ensuring a seamless embarkation and disembarkation experience. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic maritime environment while traveling across the globe.

Key Responsibilities

• Load and unload passenger baggage onto and off the ship in an organized and efficient manner.

• Sort, label, and transport luggage to designated cabins or collection points.

• Operate trolleys, dollies, and conveyor systems safely and effectively.

• Assist passengers with oversized, fragile, or special-needs luggage.

• Work collaboratively with security and guest services to ensure correct identification and delivery of luggage.

• Follow health and safety procedures, particularly regarding lifting and manual handling.

• Report any lost, damaged, or unclaimed luggage to supervisors promptly.

• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in storage and baggage handling areas.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Basic understanding of luggage handling processes.

• Physically capable of lifting and moving heavy luggage repeatedly.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

• Ability to follow instructions accurately and work under pressure during embarkation/disembarkation.

• Willingness to work in changing climates and physical environments (open decks, cargo areas, etc.).

Experience

• Prior experience in baggage handling, warehouse operations, airport ground services, or similar roles is preferred but not mandatory.

• Freshers with a strong work ethic and physical stamina are encouraged to apply.

Working Hours

• Rotational shipboard schedule (typically 6–8 weeks on, followed by time off).

• Shift-based work during embarkation and disembarkation days.

• May involve early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on ship schedule.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of safety protocols for lifting and handling heavy loads.

• Awareness of luggage security protocols and tagging procedures.

• Ability to adapt to a multicultural and fast-paced shipboard work environment.

• Strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail.

• Good physical condition, including stamina and balance.
