Job Summary:

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented UI Accessibility Engineer with deep expertise in web accessibility standards and inclusive design. As part of our cross-functional team, you will champion accessibility best practices, ensuring our digital products and interfaces are usable by people of all abilities. This role is ideal for someone passionate about creating accessible and barrier-free digital experiences aligned with WCAG 2.1+ guidelines and modern web standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct accessibility audits of web applications and digital platforms using both automated tools and manual testing methods.

• Collaborate with UX/UI designers and front-end developers to provide guidance on accessible design and implementation.

• Write semantic HTML and accessible ARIA patterns to ensure compliance with WCAG, Section 508, and ADA standards.

• Educate internal teams on accessibility principles through documentation, training sessions, and hands-on support.

• Review and contribute to design systems and component libraries with accessibility baked in.

• Perform usability testing with assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers, screen magnifiers, switch devices).

• Work closely with QA teams to incorporate accessibility into testing pipelines and CI/CD workflows.

• Keep current on the latest accessibility laws, trends, and assistive technologies to ensure compliance and innovation.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, with a strong focus on semantic structure.

• In-depth knowledge of WCAG 2.1/2.2, ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications), and other accessibility standards.

• Hands-on experience with tools like Axe, Lighthouse, WAVE, NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.

• Strong understanding of front-end frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue) and how accessibility applies in component-based architectures.

• Familiarity with design tools like Figma or Adobe XD and how accessibility considerations integrate into design workflows.

• Experience documenting accessibility defects and remediating them in coordination with development teams.

Experience:

• Minimum 3+ years of professional experience in UI/front-end development with a focus on accessibility engineering.

• Experience working in agile environments and collaborating across remote teams.

• Prior contributions to accessible design systems or enterprise-grade applications are highly valued.

Working Hours:

• Full-Time | 40 Hours/Week

• Flexible scheduling with a focus on core team collaboration hours (typically between 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM IST).

• Fully remote with virtual team meetings and asynchronous communication culture.
