Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a skilled and passionate Remote Ruby on Rails Developer to join our growing technical team. In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining high-performance web applications, implementing robust APIs, and collaborating with front-end developers and product teams to deliver seamless user experiences. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust Ruby on Rails applications and APIs.

• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code with a strong focus on performance.

• Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers, front-end developers, and project managers to translate user needs into technical solutions.

• Participate in code reviews and mentoring sessions with fellow developers to uphold quality standards.

• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues as needed.

• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.

• Integrate third-party services and APIs as required by the project.

• Stay updated with emerging trends and technologies in web development and Ruby ecosystem.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails, with a solid understanding of object-oriented programming.

• Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.

• Knowledge of RESTful API design and integration.

• Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks such as React or Vue.js (optional but preferred).

• Proficiency in Git, version control workflows, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working in sprint-based development cycles.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and remotely with minimal supervision.

Experience

• 2–5 years of hands-on experience in Ruby on Rails development.

• Experience working in a fully remote team environment is a plus.

• Previous experience contributing to open-source projects or large-scale applications will be highly regarded.

Working Hours

• Flexible remote work schedule.

• Core collaboration hours: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM IST, Monday to Friday.

• Occasional meetings across time zones depending on project needs.
