Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a highly skilled and self-driven Remote Cybersecurity Engineer – Network & Systems to join our expert technology team. In this role, you will be responsible for protecting critical infrastructure by designing and implementing secure network architectures, monitoring for threats, and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all IT systems. Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security solutions for network infrastructure and system environments.

• Monitor and respond to security incidents, threats, and vulnerabilities in real-time.

• Conduct regular audits, penetration tests, and risk assessments.

• Create and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards.

• Collaborate with IT and development teams to ensure secure software and system deployment.

• Manage firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, and endpoint protection tools.

• Maintain compliance with security frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, or CIS Controls.

• Investigate security breaches and lead forensic analysis and reporting.

• Provide security training and awareness programs to internal teams.

• Keep current with evolving cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and technology trends.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.

• Professional certifications such as CISSP, CEH, CISM, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent.

• In-depth knowledge of network security protocols, system hardening, and firewalls.

• Strong experience with SIEM tools, vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection, and cloud security.

• Familiarity with Linux, Windows, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Excellent troubleshooting and incident response capabilities.

• Ability to write technical documentation and deliver clear security recommendations.

• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and data protection standards.

Experience

• Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in a cybersecurity engineering role.

• Proven experience managing enterprise network security or large-scale IT systems.

• Prior experience working in a remote/distributed team environment is a plus.

Working Hours

• Monday to Friday, flexible hours with core collaboration time between 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM IST.

• Occasional on-call support may be required during major security events or outages.
