Job Summary

Progressive Technology is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Online Community Moderator to oversee and manage interactions across our Discord and Telegram communities. The ideal candidate is passionate about fostering safe, engaging, and positive digital environments, and is comfortable handling community dynamics in real time. This is an excellent opportunity for someone experienced in online moderation or community management, with a deep understanding of internet culture, user behavior, and platform-specific features.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and moderate daily conversations in our Discord and Telegram groups.

• Enforce community guidelines and remove content or users that violate rules.

• Respond to user queries, issues, and feedback promptly and professionally.

• Collaborate with internal teams to share feedback and report community insights.

• Identify and escalate harmful behaviors such as spamming, harassment, or misinformation.

• Plan and support community events, contests, or announcements as needed.

• Help foster a welcoming, respectful, and engaged environment for all users.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).

• In-depth knowledge of Discord and Telegram functionalities (moderation tools, bots, etc.).

• Strong understanding of online behavior and digital community etiquette.

• Ability to remain calm and professional during heated or sensitive interactions.

• Familiarity with internet slang, emojis, and cultural nuances in digital spaces.

• High level of discretion, integrity, and empathy.

Experience

• 1–2 years of experience in community moderation, online support, or social media management is preferred.

• Experience managing Telegram/Discord groups of 1,000+ users is a strong plus.

• Prior freelance, remote, or platform-based work is an advantage.

Working Hours

• Flexible schedule with availability during peak community activity times.

• Some weekend or evening hours may be required depending on group activity.

• Approximately 15–25 hours per week, with potential for more based on performance and community needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Comfortable using moderation bots (e.g., MEE6, Dyno, Carl-bot, Combot).

• Ability to draft clear community guidelines and rules if needed.

• Analytical mindset to track engagement and flag trends.

• Adaptability to shifting topics and user interests.

• Team collaboration through shared channels and tools (e.g., Slack, Notion).
