Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking skilled and passionate Chefs and Kitchen Staff to join the culinary teams onboard international cruise ships. Prepare, cook, and present a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menus that cater to international guests.
Ensure all food items are prepared and served according to hygiene, safety, and quality standards specific to cruise line regulations.
Assist in menu planning and development in collaboration with the head chef and culinary team.
Manage kitchen inventory, including ordering, receiving, and proper storage of food supplies.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food preparation areas.
Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff and departments to ensure smooth daily operations.
Monitor and control portion sizes to minimize food wastage.
Follow all health, safety, and sanitation policies as required by international maritime and company standards.
Participate in continuous training and development programs to enhance culinary skills and knowledge.
Formal culinary training or certification from a recognized culinary institution is preferred.
Proven experience as a chef or kitchen staff, preferably in hospitality or cruise ship environments.
Strong knowledge of international cuisines and menu variety.
Excellent knife skills and proficiency in various cooking techniques.
Familiarity with HACCP and other food safety standards.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multicultural team.
Physically fit and able to handle the demands of a shipboard kitchen, including long hours on feet and lifting heavy items.
Minimum of 2 years working experience as a chef or kitchen staff in hotels, restaurants, or cruise ships is highly desirable.
Experience working in multicultural and fast-paced environments is an advantage.
Typical shifts may range from 8 to 12 hours, including weekends and holidays, as per the cruise ship roster.
Flexibility to work rotating shifts and extended hours during peak times.
Contract durations generally range from 3 to 6 months, with possibilities of extension based on performance and operational needs.
