Job Summary:

Are you passionate about front-end development and eager to share your knowledge? Houston Skilled Consultancy is looking for a dedicated and experienced Web Development Mentor to guide and support aspiring developers on their learning journey. This is a remote, part-time/flexible opportunity ideal for experienced developers who enjoy teaching and mentoring others. You will work with individuals or small groups, helping them build strong foundations in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, review projects, provide constructive feedback, and help them grow into industry-ready professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver personalized mentorship to learners via virtual sessions.

• Guide learners through the fundamentals of web development, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

• Provide constructive code reviews and feedback on learner submissions.

• Offer support with real-world project development and debugging.

• Encourage best practices in web development, version control (Git), and code structuring.

• Help learners understand complex concepts through examples, analogies, and interactive learning.

• Track learner progress and suggest improvements in learning plans.

• Stay updated with modern web development trends and suggest relevant additions to the curriculum.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (ES6+).

• Solid understanding of responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.

• Familiarity with Git and version control systems.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language.

• A genuine passion for teaching, mentoring, and seeing others succeed.

Experience:

• Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience in front-end web development.

• Prior mentoring, teaching, or coaching experience is highly desirable.

• Portfolio or GitHub showcasing your work is a plus.

Working Hours:

• Flexible hours to suit your availability.

• Ideal for part-time mentors, freelancers, or developers looking to give back to the community.

• Requires a minimum commitment of 10-15 hours per week.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Deep knowledge of front-end web technologies and frameworks.

• Ability to assess learner performance and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.

• Patience and empathy in working with beginners and those transitioning into tech.

• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple learners and tasks.

• Experience with online learning platforms or LMS is a plus.
