The Elite Job is seeking a highly organized and proactive Airline Duty Officer to join our team at the South African Domestic Terminal. As an Airline Duty Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient coordination of daily airport and airline operations. You will serve as the primary liaison between ground handling teams, airline management, and airport authorities to ensure flights depart and arrive on time while delivering exceptional service to passengers.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate all aspects of flight operations, including check-in, boarding, baggage handling, and turnaround activities.

• Ensure compliance with all aviation safety regulations and security protocols.

• Monitor daily schedules to identify and resolve operational disruptions.

• Act as the main point of contact for airline crews, airport staff, and third-party service providers.

• Handle irregular operations (IROPS) professionally and in a timely manner.

• Submit and maintain accurate reports on daily activities and incidents.

• Ensure customer satisfaction by managing on-the-ground passenger queries and service issues.

• Lead pre-flight briefings with relevant departments and ensure all stakeholders are aligned.

• Supervise and support the performance of ground handling staff on shift.

• Maintain clear communication with airline headquarters and operational control centers.

✅ Required Skills and Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12) certificate or equivalent qualification.

• Diploma or certification in Aviation Operations, Airport Management, or a related field is advantageous.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Strong interpersonal skills and customer service orientation.

• High level of situational awareness and problem-solving abilities.

• Competency in using airline/airport systems and MS Office tools.

• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

🧳 Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in airport or airline ground operations.

• Prior experience in a duty officer, operations coordinator, or supervisory airport role is highly desirable.

• Familiarity with South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) regulations and airport protocols is a plus.

🕒 Working Hours

• This is a shift-based role that requires flexibility, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

• Shifts will rotate and align with flight schedules and airport operational demands.
