Job Summary

The City Government of Austin, TX, is seeking motivated and dedicated Water Utility Technicians to join our team. Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing water utilities.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in water utility management or a related field is preferred.

  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, repair equipment, and computer systems for record-keeping.
  • Valid Texas drivers license with a clean driving record.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with team members and the public.
  • Familiarity with safety practices and protocols in utility operations.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in water utility operations, maintenance, or related fields.
  • Experience working with municipal or governmental water systems is a plus.

Working Hours

  • Full-time position: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • May include occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts for emergencies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of water distribution and treatment processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, and technical manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
