Key Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of VSAT equipment and satellite communication systems on offshore oil rigs.

  • Monitor system performance, ensuring continuous and reliable communication across the offshore platform.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on communication systems and associated hardware.
  • Provide on-site technical support and training for other personnel working with satellite communication systems.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of communication systems into operational workflows.
  • Document all service activities, maintenance logs, and technical reports in accordance with company procedures.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, technological advancements, and safety standards related to offshore communications.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of satellite communication systems, particularly VSAT technologies.
  • Strong understanding of offshore technical environments and the challenges associated with remote locations.
  • Proficiency in using network analyzers, signal testers, and other troubleshooting tools related to satellite communication.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • In-depth knowledge of satellite networking, IP networking, and related communication technologies.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals, and system schematics.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical personnel.
  • Must be able to work under challenging offshore conditions and in a team-oriented environment.

Experience

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience working with satellite communication systems, particularly in offshore settings.
  • Proven experience with VSAT systems installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working on offshore rigs or other remote, challenging environments is highly desirable.
  • Experience in providing technical support and mentoring to junior technicians or crew members.

Working Hours

  • This is a full-time offshore position, requiring long shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • The work schedule will follow a rotational system (e.g., 28 days on/28 days off or similar), with extended hours during operational peaks.
  • Flexibility to adjust working hours as required by offshore operations.
