Job Summary
Amazon is seeking a Safety Manager to join our dynamic team to ensure the safety and well-being of all employees within our operational facilities. The Safety Manager will be responsible for creating and implementing effective safety programs, identifying and mitigating potential hazards, and fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage safety programs that comply with OSHA, local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and best practices.
- Lead safety training programs and educate employees on safety procedures, risk management, and emergency protocols.
- Investigate and document workplace accidents, near-misses, and incidents; recommend corrective actions and monitor their implementation.
- Work closely with other departments to promote a proactive safety culture and collaborate on safety improvement initiatives.
- Ensure proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and used appropriately.
- Review and update safety policies, procedures, and manuals regularly to maintain compliance and mitigate workplace hazards.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies and third-party safety organizations to maintain certification and accreditation as required.
- Lead emergency response planning, including drills, to ensure preparedness for various scenarios.
- Prepare and present regular reports on safety performance to senior leadership.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or related field.
- Proven experience (3+ years) in a safety management role, preferably in a fast-paced manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution environment.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
- Strong ability to develop and deliver safety training programs.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess safety risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Proficiency in using safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and educate employees at all levels.
- Ability to work under pressure, make decisions quickly, and handle emergency situations calmly.
- Certification in safety management (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), OSHA 30-Hour or 40-Hour) is a plus.
Experience
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a safety management role in a large-scale, operational environment.
- Hands-on experience with risk assessments, safety audits, accident investigations, and developing safety programs.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with high safety standards and compliance requirements.
- Proven track record of reducing workplace injuries and accidents.
Working Hours
- Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
- Flexibility to work in shifts, weekends, or after hours, as required based on operational needs and safety emergencies.
- Occasional travel to different Amazon facilities or partner sites for audits and safety checks.
