Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Civil Estimation Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in estimating costs for civil engineering projects, ensuring accurate and timely submissions. As a Civil Estimation Engineer, you will be responsible for evaluating the scope of civil works, preparing comprehensive estimates, and assisting in project planning. You will work closely with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure the project is delivered on budget and according to specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate cost estimates for civil engineering projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Project Evaluation: Review project blueprints, drawings, and specifications to assess the materials and quantities required.
- Risk Analysis: Identify potential risks and incorporate contingency measures into cost estimates.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure estimates are comprehensive and feasible.
- Cost Control: Monitor project budgets and track changes to ensure that all costs are within the estimated range.
- Tendering and Bidding: Prepare tender submissions and participate in the bidding process for various civil projects.
- Reporting: Provide regular progress reports to project managers and other stakeholders, highlighting any budgetary issues or discrepancies.
- Cost Tracking: Monitor ongoing project costs and compare them with initial estimates to ensure compliance.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Proven Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in civil engineering estimation, ideally in large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in using estimation software (e.g., Buildertrend, Procore, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies or inconsistencies in estimates.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting and liaising with stakeholders.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years in a Civil Estimation Engineer role or a similar position in the construction industry.
- Proven track record of working on infrastructure projects, such as roads, bridges, and commercial buildings.
- Experience in both pre-tender and post-tender phases of project estimation.
Working Hours
- Full-time position with standard office hours (9:00 AM to 6:00 PM).
- Some flexibility may be offered depending on project timelines.
- Occasional overtime may be required depending on project deadlines.
